I use this short leash while I get my dog in/out of the car. That way I have good control over him and he's not going to get stuck in the long leash I normally walk him with. I did use the 'spring' device while walking him as it does really work to keep him from being able to snap the leash if he pulls for some odd reason (cat or bunny catches his eye).

Regardless of if you're getting this leash extension for your dog or something else, it's pretty cool. The elastic stretches a bit but not too much when you get a jolt of force on the other end, this is perfect for slowing down small yanks and controlling what's on the other side. The quality of the materials feel really good, and it seems this will last quite a while.
